Christmas is over and the snow and ice have gone, leaving burst pipes and chaos in their wake. My cousin is paddling about on soaked carpets for the second time in three years and, having been without water for three days in January, I have deep sympathy for those whose water supplies are not yet back on.
I’m not sure whether the milder weather will enable us to go ahead with the launch of the street support project on 8th January, but I’ve drawn up a rota anyway and sent it to the volunteers. If the weather turns really cold again, as it threatens to, we may leave it for a few weeks but we’re meeting on Tuesday to decide what to do. I’m still waiting for a few CRB checks but I hope they’ll appear once people go back to work next week.
So I’m looking forward to the new year. Even if we do have to postpone the launch for a couple of weeks, it will happen this spring and at last, after about 18 months of trying to get people on board, we will be out on the streets. Personally, I can’t wait!
A Happy New Year to one and all – Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i chi gyd!
